Taproot Wizards Ordinal Inscription Collection Community Announced A bitcoin donation worth approximately $19,000 to the Human Rights Foundation’s Bitcoin Development Fund. The foundation supports and funds various Bitcoin projects, developers, and Bitcoin Core contributors.

Also, according to the announcement Tweetsaw over 5,000 Lightning microtransactions from seemingly new users of Bitcoin’s Lightning Network.

According to Udi Wertheimer, who calls himself “Taproot Wizard #0001,” the “Struck by Lightning” Wizard School quest lasted 48 hours, during which time 5,800 unique accounts participated. In total, these accounts have her donating 0.845 BTC, currently worth around $19,000.
The average donation amount was about $3.50, with the majority of donations being $2.00 or about 10,000 sats. “All payments were made via Lightning. Judging by the reaction on the discord server, it seems the majority were first-time users,” Wertheimer explained.

Bitcoin enthusiasts who have never experienced the lightning network’s incredible speed I was surprised with the instantaneous nature of their payments. “I didn’t know lightning could go that fast,” exclaimed one user. “Shit is crazy.”

Ordinal Inscriptions have taken the Bitcoin community by storm since its introduction, with the protocol on track to over 500,000 inscriptions. While the impact of ordinal numbers is not yet fully agreed upon, it is certain that ordinal numbers and immutable arbitrary data storage enabled by Taproot are unlocking new development and community around Bitcoin.
